What is life coaching?
Life Coaching is a new delivery system for helping people create and cross the bridge from where they presently are to where they want to be.
What happens in coaching?
Both of us focus on what is most important to you including your goals and your desired outcomes. We discuss your obstacles, options and opportunities to create BIG shifts in thinking. I provide an accountability partner, truthful dialogue, new perspectives. Both of us use our knowledge, resources, skills and intuition to solve problems, explore possibilities and create a weekly action plan.
What does a typical coaching session look like?
The session will begin with the client's agenda. The client determines the focus for each session. It may be a new skill, changing a limiting mindset or belief or a fear into an intention, establishing relationship, career, health or personal goals as well as clarifying needs and values.
Next, the client will share successes and/or challenges from the following week. That will be followed by a collaborative discussion where I may ask clarifying and thought provoking questions, share information and guide the client to his/her A-HA discoveries. These A-HA moments reflect an awareness shift often leading to the next best action step.
Lastly, we co-create the next best action step(s) to be completed before the next coaching session. Strategies and tips may also be shared at this time. Clients are held accountable for those steps.
How does coaching differ from therapy and consulting?
A life coach will not assess or evaluate your situation and then tell you what to do or how to solve or improve your situation.
Life coaching will not focus on resolving personality issues or the origins of fear, ending a past trauma or issue or healing emotional wounds. Life coaching will use feelings for information, focus on strategies and goals, turn a fear into an intention, transform a self limiting belief into an empowering belief and help create a new life story without dwelling on the old life story.
What can I expect from coaching?
You can expect to have a trusting, confidential and supportive relationship that you direct. With my consistent and objective support, you will find yourself: creating momentum; doing more than you would on your own; becoming more accountable for your thoughts and actions; and taking more effective and focused actions.
Why is coaching so effective?
The life coach is a catalyst for growth and will hold the vision of all that the client can do and be. The life coach creates a space for breakthrough change by offering acceptance, mentorship, partnership, accountability and a sense of possibility. Most importantly, the client is actively engaged in and responsible for his/her own growth creating ownership. By focusing on solutions rather than problems, clients access creative energy and form new neural pathways leading to changes in thoughts and actions.
